The Duke's Road is a collage from a body of work called The Grand Tour - a sort of guide for travellers exploring a fey version of scenic Britain, and the monsters and daemons one might encounter there. Collaged using the outlines of figures taken from magazines, and combined with images from natural history books, I replaced the silhouettes of the hybrid amalgams with patterned papers, and set them in a landscape from the 1950s.
Available in two sizes as a giclée print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper, this print of a hand cut paper collage can also be purchased framed, with three options to choose from.
Please note, these prints have been created using scans or photographs of hand cut paper collages. As a general rule, the smaller the print option, the closer it is in size to the original artwork. While I have taken a great deal of care in preparing these images for reproduction, the more scaled-up the print option, the more you may notice its construction i.e. I use a scalpel to cut the various elements in the collage and the hand-made element maybe more evident when magnified at a larger scale. The same goes for the vintage papers I use. Most of the landscapes in my collages are taken from vintage photogravures - a copperplate photo-etching process that leaves a beautiful grainy finish, which again, will be more apparent when seen on the larger scale giclée prints.
